In this brief interview the salmon fisher Andreas Njarga, who has been fishing salmon in the Deatnu river all his life, explains what kind of perils he sees to the survival of the Deatnu salmon. The river banks are overgrowing with willow, alder and birch, partly because of lack of strong ice runs in the spring which used to clear the river banks for vegetation before. The watercourse itself is getting clogged with grass, where the salmon fry eating pike thrives and increases in number.
