The River Sámi culture has in many aspects been overshadowed by reindeer herding and Sea Sámi interests in the public sphere, but is nonetheless the most important reason for the dwelling in the valley, which is also documented by the rich terminology concerning the river, fishing, water conditions and subsistence.
